Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-19

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets out what you may and may not do when using the Emit Vision Service. It applies in addition to our Terms of Service. Violation of this AUP may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.

1. Prohibited content and data

You must not send to the Service:

  • Illegal data — data whose collection, storage, or transmission would violate applicable law.
  • Secrets and credentials— passwords, private keys, authentication tokens, or payment card data (PAN, CVV, expiry) as event payload values, even if incidentally captured. Use the SDK’s scrubbing features to prevent this.
  • Regulated personal data without an agreement — protected health information (PHI/HIPAA), payment card data (PCI DSS), or other regulated personal data categories unless you have a separate written agreement with us covering that data type.
  • Malware or harmful code — source maps or payloads that contain executable malware, exploits, or obfuscated harmful code intended to affect our systems or other customers.

2. Prohibited behaviour

You must not:

  • Send artificial load, spam, or scrape the ingest API in a way that degrades service for other customers or circumvents plan quotas.
  • Attempt to bypass authentication, access other customers’ data, or probe the Service for security vulnerabilities without our written permission.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service beyond what is permitted by applicable law.
  • Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Service to third parties in a way that circumvents these Terms.
  • Use the Service to send spam, phishing content, or unsolicited commercial communications.

3. Responsible disclosure

If you discover a security vulnerability in the Service, please report it responsibly to [email protected] before public disclosure. We will acknowledge reports within 5 business days and work to resolve confirmed issues promptly.

4. Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations and take any action we deem appropriate, including issuing a warning, suspending your account, terminating your account, or referring the matter to law enforcement. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before suspending your account except where immediate action is required to protect the Service or other customers.
